Enrollment Timeline
Make sure you're prepared for the application process - keep track of deadlines and anticipate next steps. Follow these steps to success:
August
- If you have not taken the ACT or SAT, register soon.
Learn more: www.act.org and www.collegeboard.org
- Begin searching for outside scholarship opportunities.
September
- Schedule a visit with Northwest's Campus Visit Coordinator by calling 800.633.1175 or register online. You can also register for Fall Visit Day, which takes place in October.
- Apply for admission. You can apply by paper application or apply online.
- Stop by to see a Northwest representative at your high school or at a college fair in your surrounding area. Check our admissions counselors' schedules to see when someone will be in your area.
October
- Apply for admissions if you haven't already.
- Review and apply for Northwest Missouri State University's competitive scholarships. Information available with Financial Assistance.
November
- Visit campus if you haven't already.
- Search and apply for private scholarships.
December
- Search and apply for private scholarships.
- Apply for admission and scholarships if you haven't already.
- Submit your housing contract along with $150 pre-payment (refundable if canceled by June 1). Housing contracts are mailed to accepted students the first of December. After December, they are mailed with the acceptance letter.
January
- Obtain the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from high school counselor, college financial assistance office, or line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Try to apply by March 1 and list the Northwest code, 002496.
- Collect family W-2s and file for federal taxes.
- Search and apply for private scholarships.
- Apply for student housing if you haven't yet.
February
- If you haven't already, apply for federal financial assistance by completing the FAFSA with the help of your family's federal tax returns.
- Schedule a campus visit to Northwest if you haven't already done so.
- Continue applying for private scholarships.
- Apply for student housing if you haven't already.
March
- Apply for student housing if you haven't already.
- Respond to any request from Northwest to verify information submitted on the FAFSA application.
April
- Priority date for the FAFSA is April 1.
- Review financial aid and/or scholarship offers.
- If you have been admitted, then register for SOAR.
May
- Submit your grade reports if you took Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes.
- Register for SOAR if you haven't already.
- Graduate from high school.
- Have your high school counselor forward your final transcript to the Office of Admissions.
- If you took college or dual credit in high school, have a transcipt sent to Northwest.
June
July
- Receive residence hall room assignment and roommate information.
August
- Attend Advantage.
- Move in to your residence hall room.
- Begin classes.
