Northwest offers 103 undergraduate majors and 36 master's programs. The Business, Education, Geography and Agriculture departments graduate the largest number of students each year. Career Services offers an "Exploring Majors" fair where students can learn about different majors on campus and find which major is the perfect fit for them.
Northwest is one of the most affordable universities in the Midwest. Northwest offers a variety of automatic scholarships based on your ACT score and class rank. Northwest also offers several great out-of-state scholarships for those who qualify.
Every full-time student receives a laptop computer to use throughout the school year. This benefits students by giving them the piece of mind that they always have computer access 24/7. Plus, if you're rooming with someone, you won't have to share a computer with them.

Northwest is very unique in the fact our students do not have to buy their textbooks. Instead, Northwest has implemented a rental program where students pay only $5 per credit hour for their books. This eliminates the stress of finding books and also the heavy expense of buying books.
Northwest is a true advocate of hands-on experience. For instance, in our Horace Mann Lab School students majoring in education get a true inside view of what teaching is all about. Northwest offers several other opportunities for hands-on experiences including internships, the lab farm for agriculture majors, on-campus radio and television stations and volunteer work.
Northwest currently has around 6,300 students. This size of campus offers great opportunities for students to succeed socially, as well as academically. With a student to teacher radio of 22 to 1, you never feel like a number and always get personalized attention from faculty. Many students say that they may have their own group of friends, but always see somebody new every day.
It is a proven fact that 92% of freshmen return after their first trimester. This is due greatly to the fact that Northwest has adopted the mind set of a family atmosphere. People care about each other here. This is truly students' home away from home.
