"I feel fortunate and blessed to have Northwest mean so much to my life," Marcie Clary Houghton '52, '59 said. "Growing up locally, I always knew I would be a Bearcat."
As a Northwest Tower Queen, 1986 Turret Award winner, 2002 Homecoming Parade grand marshal and a 79-year-member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Houghton is a special member of the Bearcat family.
The Houghton family name means a lot at Northwest and in Maryville. F. B. Houghton Sr., Marcie's late husband, received his undergraduate degree from Northwest and he taught in the agriculture department for 28 years. He also was the driving force behind the University's livestock judging program.
Today, Marcie oversees three scholarship funds named after F. B., all of which continue to help Northwest students studying for a career in agriculture. She also is active as a TriSig alumna and in The Centennial Society.
The University's future is bright thanks to the commitment and devotion from alumni and friends like Marcie Clary Houghton!
