Position

Assistant Professor of Graphic Design/Design, Art

Contract Terms

Tenure track, full-time, 9-month, Assistant Professor

Position Summary

Teach core design courses, introductory and advanced Graphic Design. Knowledge of digital Pre-Press and related industry standards. Strong rendering or drawing skills desired. Department and university committee assignments and student advising as appropriate.

Essential Functions

  1. Teach foundational 2D design
  2. Teach introductory Graphic Design
  3. Teach advanced Graphic Design
  4. Teach digitally based Graphic Design

Minimum Qualifications

Education: MFA, Graphic Design or Design
Skills: Software proficiency with draw, paint, DTP, interactive and web applications; drawing skills desirable

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: Professional experience a plus; three years college teaching
Skills: Software proficiency with illustration, photo, animation, video, web, interactive and DTP applications; knowledge of typography, design history, electronic pre-press and related skills; strong drawing skills

Working Conditions

Classroom and computer studios; Collegial, modern, team-based departments; Internet access, individual offices

Equipment/Materials Used

Personal laptop computer supplied. Environment is technologically enhanced. Experience with digital and traditional layout and drawing materials for mock-up purposes.

Typical Physical Demands

Occassionally lifting computers and monitors or small printers
