Job Description

To provide assistance to beef, swine and crop enterprises in the farm operation as well as maintenance and construction tasks; Perform livestock production tasks such as feeding, grinding feed, cleaning facilities, handling livestock; Hay production tasks such as mowing, raking, baling, moving bales; Crop production tasks such as loading the planter, cultivating, unloading grain, and driving grain truck; Perfrom maintenance on buildings, machinery, fence, as well as new construction of fence; Must drive a University vehicle or equipment; Follow oral instructions; Communicate problems and information to farm manager and/or farm employees to positively effect productivity; Resolve problems with feed, water, machinery, equipment and fences; Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete tasks significant to efficient livestock and crop production; Apply livestock production fundamentals including the ability to recognize injuries and/or disease; Apply crop production fundamentals; Attention to detail is critical as is the ability to proactively address repairs and maintenance; Demonstrate ability to work positively with others; Have ability to work positively with diverse on campus populations.

Qualifications

Agriculture major; Minimum 2.0 GPA; Experience operating a tractor and loader and other farm equipment; Must have a current, valid driver's license and a safe driving record; Must meet all other requirements to drive a University vehicle or equipment; Ability to perform manual tasks involving heavy lifting and mobility.

Wage Rate

New minimum wage takes effect January 1, 2009; Wage rate to be determined.
