Job Description

To provide an opportunity for students enrolled in Spanish courses to practice the language in a practical manner; Meet with students enrolled in various Spanish courses for two or more one hour sessions per week on a semi-formal basis to practice conversing in Spanish; Additional meetings beyond two hours per week must be approved in advance by the supervisor; Ability to speak, read, and write competently in Spanish; Ability to help limited Spanish speakers with daily problems through communication; Ability to communicate by campus email in a timely matter; Ability to seek advice from appropriate channels; Necessary language skills; Desire to learn about other cultures and people and to grow personally; Desire for service learning opportunities; Ability to work in a team environment; Ability to work positively with a diverse student population; Participation in cultural activities.

Qualifications

Fluency in Spanish; Knowledge of life in the Hispanic world.

Wage Rate

$7.50 through end of December; New minimum wage takes effect January 1, 2009; Wage rate to be determined.
