Bearcats Post Second Straight Shutout Against Truman

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Northwest scored a run in each of the first two innings and held off Truman through the final seven to claim a 2-0 victory against the Bulldogs today. Northwest (28-22, 17-16) claimed it's third shutout in the last four games, including it's second straight against Truman (8-41, 6-29).

Jon Henne, Jr. picked up his 12th RBI of the season in the first inning off a single to left field, driving in Nick Pfeiffer.

A double down the left field line in the second inning from Ryan Bledsoe advanced Trevor Connor to third, extending Bledsoe's hitting streak to 21 games. Connor would score the second run for the Bearcats off a single from Britt Westman.

Joel Epley limited the Bulldogs to a pair of hits through the first five innings. He struck out 10 Bulldogs in seven and two-third innings of work in en route to his third win of the season. Evan Nickell recorded his eighth save of the season, throwing a total of 10 pitches for the final four outs.

Up Next: Northwest will conclude the regular season tomorrow against Truman in a nine-inning game beginning at 1 p.m.
