Cheer Takes Third

For the second consecutive year, the Northwest Missouri Cheerleading squad placed in the top seven at the 2008 UCA College Cheerleading and Dance Team Championship. The Bearcats finished in third place, only 28 points behind seven-time champion University of West Georgia.

"We are starting to prove that we are becoming one of the best cheer squads in the country," said Head Coach Jason Sack. Jeff Webb, President and CEO of Varsity Spirits Brands and Universal Cheerleaders Association said, "Northwest has a program that everyone should be watching out for in coming years."

2007 Nationals

The Northwest Missouri State Cheerleading squad placed sixth in the 2007 UCA College Cheerleading and Dance Team Championship. Northwest finished 60 points behind the University of West Georgia, who picked up its sixth consecutive UCA Division II Coed title.

“I was pleased with what the kids did,” said cheerleading coach Jason Sack. “They had a good time. We’re looking forward to doing better next year.”

The Bearcats finished first among Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schools, ahead of Pittsburg State University, which finished seventh in final results.

Northwest received a perfect 15 points in the crowd category, based from a submitted video from a Bearcat football game earlier this season. The cheerleading team qualified for the event in November by video, and was judged onsite by music and cheer performances.
