Chaney Leads Northwest to Fifth Place at William Jewell

Results

LIBERTY, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State golf finished fifth of eight teams at the William Jewell Invitational Thursday and Friday at the Claycrest Golf Course in Liberty, Mo. The Bearcats finished with a team tally of 764 strokes, 14 strokes away from fourth-place Avila.

Freshman Megan Chaney paced the Bearcats with a 16th place performance and a score of 184, a seven-stroke improvement from the season-opener at Drury. Jessica Feuerbach shot a 91 in the second round to lead Northwest on day two, ending 20th overall with 189.

Park University won the eight-team invitational, with Krista Nelson of Avila winning the individual title among 55 participants. Missouri Western finished third as the Griffons and Bearcats were the two teams to represent the MIAA at William Jewell.

The Bearcats return home for the Bearcat Fall Classic at Mozingo Lake Golf Course Oct. 2-3. Three teams from the William Jewell Invitational (Avila, Missouri Western and William Jewell) are among the teams scheduled to participate.
