
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - No. 31 Northwest Missouri State tennis picked up its first shutout of the season, defeating Missouri Valley 9-0 at the St. Joseph Tennis and Swim Club tonight. The Bearcats move to 2-0 against the Vikings all-time.
Northwest didn't allow more than two points in any doubles match, with Lucas Ariboni and Jon-Eric Meyer winning by the largest marging of 8-1 at the No. 3 slot.
Daniel Usieto swept Miguel Pacheco 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, winning his third straight set by a 6-0 result. Giovanni Auricchio secured the 9-0 victory by winning 8-6 in the second tiebreaker in No. 6 singles against Diego Malaga.
Up Next: The Bearcats head to Topeka, Kan., for a match with Metropolitan State. Competition from the Wood Valley Raquet and Fitness Club begins at 8 p.m. Friday.
