
TOPEKA, Kan. - The No. 26 Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team needed four wins in singles to defeat No. 24 Washburn 5-4 today at the Kossover Tennis Center. The win is the sixth for the Bearcats (13-4, 2-1) in the last seven matches.
Defending MIAA Player of the Week Vigit Seghal and sophomore Felipe Gennari recorded the only win in doubles play, defeating Nathan Martin and Brad Johnston 8-4 at the No. 2 spot. Gennari needed three sets to notch a win in singles play, defeating Drew Hanson 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.
Daniel Usieto won his fifth straight match at No. 3 singles, winning a 6-2, 6-2 match with Martin.
Today's win moves the Bearcats into a first-place tie with Southwest Baptist with one MIAA match remaining for each squad.
