
PITTSBURG, Kan. - Northwest Missouri State fell to its third ranked opponent in the last four matches with a 3-0 loss to No. 17 Pittsburg State tonight at John Lance Arena. The Bearcats went down by scores of 25-21, 25-17, 25-12.
Northwest mounted small rallies in the first set, closing within four points at 22-18. The Bearcats held off two set points off kills from Rachel Nisi and Amber Ryan before a kill from Pamela Cartagena ended the set at 25-21.
The Bearcats improved their hitting percentage as the sets progressed to reach .226 by the final set. Nisi led Northwest with a .375 hitting and seven kills. Paige Spangenberg led all players with 18 digs, her most in a three-set match this season.
Up Next: Northwest faces Southwest Baptist tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Bolivar, Mo. The purple Bearcats defeated Missouri Western 3-1 earlier tonight.
