2008 Winstead-Reeves All-Classic Team Announced

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State and Evangel both placed two on the 2008 Winstead-Reeves All-Classic team, with the Lady Crusaders' Whitney Pollard named the classic most valuable player in leading Evangel to a 2-0 record during the weekend.

Presenting the honors was Sherri Reeves, the inaugural Northwest women's basketball coach who finished with a .802 winning percentage in four seasons and won the 1972 MAIAW Championship.

Pollard combined for 26 points and 25 rebounds in two games. She had a team-high nine assists and shot 56 percent from the field. Teammate Brianna Mingue was also named to the All-Classic team, as she scored 28 points and hit a classic-high six three-pointers.

Meghan Brue and Rickeya McElroy represented the Bearcats on the team. Brue made a classic-high 30 points against Evangel and recorded her fourth career double-double against William Jewell. McElroy made a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds against the Cardinals.

Christa Stewart led Briar Cliff with 24 points and 12 rebounds in two games and scored a team-high 12 points against Evangel. Stewart and McElroy led all players with seven blocked shots during the two-day classic.

Amber Parker scored a game-high 20 points and had five rebounds for William Jewell against Briar Cliff and added another 13 points and four rebounds against Northwest.
