PostSecret founder Frank Warren will speak at Northwest at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in Charles Johnson Theater. The free lecture is being sponsored by the Student Activities Council.

A meet-and-greet session will take place following the presentation, and the first 50 people in line will receive a free autographed copy of one of Warren’s four books.

The PostSecret project is a growing collection of more than 30,000 highly personal and artfully decorated postcards mailed anonymously from around the world. Warren's first book, “PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives” (ReganBooks) made “The New York Times” best-seller list.

Similar collections titled “My Secret,” “The Secret Lives of Men and Women” and “A Lifetime of Secrets” soon followed, as did the PostSecret Web site (www.postsecret.com), which continues to receive more than 3 million visitors a month.

The site has earned numerous awards, including “Best American Blog” and “Blog of the Year,” and Warren’s traveling exhibition of PostSecret cards was described as “one of the five best art shows in 2005” by “The Washington Post.”

Since founding PostSecret, Warren, a Washington, D.C.-area businessman, has appeared on the “Today Show,” “20/20,” CNN, MSNBC, CBC, NPR and Fox News. He continues to receive between 100 and 200 postcards daily and updates the PostSecret Web site each Sunday. Describing himself as an “accidental artist,” he is currently working on four more PostSecret books.

“I have been asked many times why I started this,” he said. “It still feels to me as though this project found me. All I try to do is make the right decisions every day to protect the integrity of the project – and learn to trust the journey.”
