Note that Saturday's banquet has been moved to a later time than previously announced in order to accommodate Bearcats football fans who plan to attend the NCAA Division II semifinal playoff game versus the University of North Alabama Lions, which begins at 3 p.m. in Bearcat Stadium. Casual dress is encouraged for fans and others attending the Feaste after Saturday's game.
Sponsored by the Department of Music, the Feaste offers a glimpse of the Christmas season as celebrated in the royal halls of Tudor England more than 400 years ago. Highlights include a banquet of 16th century-style delicacies and "command" performances by the Northwest Madraliers, the Recorder Consort and Royale Brass Quintet.
Dr. Brian Lanier, Yuletide Feaste director, has described the evening as a journey back to the days of Renaissance Europe, complete with period songs, dancing and entertainment.
As in years past, the ballroom will be transformed into a royal banquet hall complete with banners, canopies, a grand entryway and candelabras. Members of the Northwest Madraliers will greet guests with carols and other traditional music.
Costumed students, faculty and staff will fill such roles as king, queen, high chamberlain, herald, and lord and lady of the manor.
This year’s Renaissance-style menu includes Persian tomato and cucumber salad; breast of chicken a lá Swiss; carved steamship of beef; broccoli, carrot and cauliflower pesto; green beans with béchamel sauce; garlic cheddar and chive potato soufflé; rice pilaf; champagne cake with raspberry sauce; homemade; and wassail, iced tea and coffee.
Yuletide Feaste tickets cost $27.95 per person and can be purchased at the music/art office on the first floor of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building, room 101, immediately west of the north entrance. Payment can be made using cash, checks, major credits cards or a University ID or Aladine account.
Tickets may also be ordered over the phone at 660.562.1315 (ext. 1315 on campus). Mail ticket requests and checks made out to Northwest Missouri State University to:

Seating is limited just over 320 guests, and early reservations are recommended. All tickets are reserved, and no tickets will be sold at the door. Large groups should arrange to purchase tickets at the same time.
We always have a great time doing this, and it’s a wonderful campuswide and communitywide event with music from the Renaissance and all kinds of beautiful costumes,” said Lanier, who also serves as director of the Madraliers.
“I think those attending the Feast will be absolutely mesmerized and impressed with the skills of these singers and the beauty of the music itself,” he said of the University’s premier chamber choir, which does double duty as the Celebration show choir during the spring trimester. “It’s just one great voice after another.”
The choir’s numerous distinctions include a recent performance at the American Choral Directors Association Southwest Division convention in Kansas City, where it was among only four choirs invited to perform from throughout the seven-state region.
